NETBALL: London Pulse enjoy a two-point lead in the Super League after they brushed aside Leeds 73-50 and second-placed Loughborough suffered a surprise 62-66 home defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest. 

Manchester sealed the third end-of-season play-off berth with a 59-54 win over bottom club Cardiff and Emily Andrew netted a last-minute super shot as London Mavericks squeezed past Birmingham 69-67.

MEN’S CRICKET: There will be a new name on the Indian Premier League Trophy this year after Punjab beat Mumbai by five wickets in a rain-delayed match to set up Tuesday’s final against Bengaluru. 

Chasing Mumbai’s 203-6 Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer smashed an unbeaten 87 from 41 balls to lead his team home with an over to spare. 

Bengaluru thrashed Punjab by eight wickets in last Thursday’s first play-off match.

WOMEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Wigan have the only remaining 100 per cent record in the Super League after they saw off Leeds 34-12 and Leigh slipped to a heavy 32-6 loss at Huddersfield. 

Defending champions York Valkyrie went down 16-12 at home to St Helens, who moved into second place, a point behind Wigan, while Barrow climbed off the bottom of the table with their first win, 14-6 at new basement dwellers Warrington.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Cairo’s Pyramids continued the recent Egyptian dominance of the African Champions League when they beat South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in Sunday evening’s final second leg for a 3-2 aggregate win. 

The Pyramids automatically qualify for next season’s Club World Cup and Intercontinental Cup. Clubs from Egypt have won seven of the last nine finals, with al-Ahly picking up the trophy on six of those occasions.
