NETBALL: London Pulse cruised to a comfortable 67-44 win at bottom club Cardiff to seal the Super League regular season title as runners-up Loughborough slumped to a 67-58 defeat at Birmingham. Third-placed Manchester warmed up for Friday’s play-off semi-final against London Mavericks by easing to a 67-45 victory over the same opponents and Nottingham Forest saw off Leeds 80-61.

ATHLETICS: Sweden’s double Olympic and World pole vault champion Armand Duplantis broke the world record for the 12th time when he cleared 6.28 metres at Sunday evening’s Diamond League event in Stockholm. Duplantis, a four-time Diamond League winner who has also won the world indoor and European titles three times, currently leads Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis by three points in this year’s Diamond League.

MEN’S CRICKET: Three days after South Africa beat Australia to become test cricket’s world champions, Sri Lanka begin a two-game series against Bangladesh in Galle to restart the competition which is due to finish in 2027. All-rounder Angelo Matthews will be making his 119th and final Test appearance for Sri Lanka who are currently ranked as the world’s sixth-best test team, four places above Bangladesh.

HORSE RACING: The opening day of the Ascot Festival sees a rematch of this year’s 2,000 Guineas with Ruling Court and Field of Gold both in the seven-horse St James’s Palace stakes field. Ruling Court won the 2,000 Guineas by half a length from Field of Gold but was withdrawn from the Derby due to the soft ground while Field of Gold went on to win the Irish 2000 Guineas just under a month ago.

DARTS: The Northern Irish team of Daryl Gurney and Josh Rock picked up their first-ever World Cup after beating Wales 10-9 in Sunday night’s final in Frankfurt. Wales had beaten the Netherlands in the semi-finals while the Irish thumped Germany in their last four clash. England’s pre-tournament favourites Luke Littler and Luke Humphries had lost to the Germans in their first match.
