WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Saracens came from behind to seal a 24-14 bonus point win over third-placed Exeter and took advantage of Gloucester-Hartpury’s week off by moving above the defending champions at the top of the English Premiership on points difference.

Loughborough won 31-19 at Bristol on Sunday afternoon after Ealing had crushed bottom of the table Leicester 57-10 and Harlequins edged out Sale 22-17.

NETBALL: The England Roses overwhelmed an inexperienced Jamaican team to earn a thumping 81-30 win at London’s Copper Box Arena on Sunday and sealed a one-sided 2-0 series victory. The hosts had won the first match 80-37 on Saturday.

Before the series the Jamaicans had been ranked as the world’s third-best team, one place above England, and had won last year’s corresponding tournament 2-1.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Newcastle Eagles extended the Super League’s only 100 per cent record to five games after bagging a 75-66 victory at Leicester on Sunday evening.

Second-placed Caledonia Gladiators eased to an 84-63 win at bottom of the table Nottingham.

Paige Meyer netted a massive 33 points as Essex held off Sheffield 103-102. Oaklands Wolves edged out Cardiff Met 70-66 and London needed extra time to overcome Manchester 75-72.

HORSE RACING: French-trained Sosie beat last year’s winner Giavellotto by almost a length to claim Sunday’s Hong Kong Vase at the Sha Tin racecourse and picked up prize money in excess of one and a quarter million pounds.

Sosie, who had finished third behind Daryz in October’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, was making his first ever appearance outside of Europe.

Goliath finished third to complete an all-French trained top three.
