WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Former Wales international Nadine Griffiths has been appointed the Welsh Rugby Union’s director of women’s rugby. Griffiths played at the 1998 World Cup and was part of the women’s coaching team on the 2013 tour of South Africa. She said: “I feel like I have come full circle from the young girl in Pencoed who watched the 1991 Rugby World Cup and dared to dream of pulling on that red jersey, to now being responsible for inspiring the next generation to do exactly the same.”

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Former Manchester United and England defender Ashley Young announced his retirement today. Young has called time on a 23-year career which also included spells with Watford, Aston Villa, Everton and Inter Milan. The 40-year-old, who won 39 England caps, has spent this season with Championship promotion-chasers Ipswich, making 15 appearances.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Tottenham captain Bethany England has been hailed for her “incredible contributions” on and off the pitch after it was announced today she would leave the club at the end of this season. Spurs confirmed England would depart this summer after 38 goals across an impressive three-and-a-half year spell, where she inspired a run to the FA Cup final at Wembley in 2024.

WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Wales captain Kate Williams will miss the remainder of the Women’s Six Nations due to the calf issue which caused her to sit out Saturday’s 62-24 round-three defeat away to England. Wing Catherine Richards has also been ruled out of the upcoming games against Ireland and Italy due to a serious knee injury. Flanker Bethan Lewis will lead the team for the rest of the championship.
