ANTI-RACIST campaigners joined trade unionists in solidarity today as they continue their battle against the far right in Clydebank.

The town has become a target for far-right and fascist agitators in recent months, with Clydebank TUC stall becoming the focus of intimidation attempts.

Show Racism the Red Card’s Billy Singh told the Star: “I’m here to support my brothers and sisters from the Clydebank TUC who are out here every week, challenging racism and xenophobia.

“Narratives around migration can be negative, but I always say: if I had a magic button where all the migrants and people of colour disappeared for a day — myself included — the country would just collapse.

“We say: don’t blame other people for government failings at local and national level.”

Clydebank TUC secretary Tam Morrison added: “It’s great to have Show Racism the Red Card’s support countering the far right.

“Trade councils are key — we are the link between the trade union movement and the community.

“Social media has its place, and we can pass good resolutions, but it’s really about face-to-face discussion with people — that’s how you change minds.”
