WINTER OLYMPICS: Chinese organisers have confirmed participants in next year’s games will be strictly isolated from the general population and could face expulsion for violating Covid-19 restrictions.

Vice-mayor and Beijing 2022 organising committee official Zhang Jiandong told reporters today that those taking part in the games beginning February 4 must remain in a “closed loop” for training, competing, transport, dining and accommodation.

TENNIS: Emma Raducanu won for the first time since her US Open success as she made it through the first round of the Transylvanian Open.
