Record-setting victories across multiple disciplines have elevated a Queenstown-raised talent into a genuine global contender, writes ANDREW DAMPF
Cyrname gets the greenlight from training legend Nicholls

I MUST admit throughout my punting and tipping career I have nearly always steered clear of short prices selections, but this week I am going to make a huge exception.
For the last two years we have seen the apparent demise of CYRNAME following his second run of the season, but to me it is as clear as the light of day that this uber-talented nine-year-old is, quite obviously, best fresh on a decent surface from two-and-a-half to three miles.
Quite simply put, he just doesn’t take his racing at all well. And the recent quote from Paul Nicholls — “He’s the same as he was this time last year. He’s fresh which suits him and worked great this morning, and so we’re very happy with him” — provides me with ample back up to selecting him here.
