ON Saturday night a packed community hall in Braunston, Northamptonshire, heard the story of the 100th anniversary of a 14-week strike by canal boat workers.
The strike was sparked when employers cut wages by 15 per cent and by the appalling conditions faced by workers and their families who lived on the barges.
The event was organised by Unite Northamptonshire Community branch chair and activist Russ Hickman and myself.
