Officials looking at release of QEUH documents, confirms Gray
A view of Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

OFFICIALS are “looking at” how the documents demanded by MSPs relating to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) infections scandal can be released, Scottish health secretary Neil Gray said today.

A motion tabled by Scottish Labour calling for “all communications connected to the contaminated water and inadequate ventilation system and the premature opening of the QEUH,” in the teeth of Scottish government opposition, amid ongoing speculation over where the “pressure” to open it early came from.

Confirming work was now under way to comply, Mr Gray told MSPs: “My officials are now examining how the documents referred to by the motion voted on by Parliament can be released safely and lawfully.”

Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar responded: “For seven years families, staff and I have raised concerns about the QEUH.

“For seven years SNP ministers told us there was nothing to see.

“We have had seven years of dither, denial, lies, gaslighting and bullying.

“No-one believes the Health Secretary when he says there were no warnings of issues until March 2018. No-one believes him when he says pressure wasn’t applied.”
