HUNDREDS of Unite workers at Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports are celebrating landing pay wins of up to 10 per cent.
About 300 Menzies Aviation workers — dispatchers, allocators, airside agents and controllers — at Edinburgh Airport have backed a deal worth between 6.5 and 10 per cent as well as a new pay grade system.
The announcement came just a day after 400 Unite comrades at Aberdeen Airport, including customer service staff at Skytanking and Aberdeen Airport Ltd, security workers at ICTS Central Search and firefighters at Falck, backed deals secured as part of the union’s Runway to Success campaign across the sector.
Unite industrial officer Paula Buchan hailed the “significant boost to the pay packets of hundreds of workers based at Aberdeen,” while the union’s Carrie Binnie said the Edinburgh deal “builds on the successes of recent years.”
General secretary Sharon Graham said: “Our Runway to Success campaign across Scottish airports continues to deliver win after win.
“The Menzies deal demonstrates why Unite is the leading trade union for airport workers because we do what we promise: we deliver better jobs, pay and conditions.”
