Help us hit our 95th Anniversary Appeal’s first big milestone

Across the country readers are rallying to the People’s Paper’s cause. Star campaigns manager CALVIN TUCKER has some handy ideas on how to get involved

GOOD morning, comrades — and welcome to your regular update on the drive, determination and donations powering our 95th Anniversary Appeal for the Morning Star.

A huge thank you to the three revolutionary readers who sent £100 each, the socialist who gave £95 for 95 years, and the generous comrades who dropped £50, £20 and £5 into my tin. Your solidarity has pushed our total to £9,689 — within striking distance of our first big milestone: £10,000!

We know family budgets are tight, especially as winter approaches, but remember: the Morning Star stands with you every day. If you can spare £9.50, £95 or £950, put the people’s paper at the top of your Christmas list.

Individual contributions remain the lifeblood of this appeal, but our campaign is gathering strength across the movement. Readers and Supporters Groups from every corner of Britain have met to share ideas and plan fresh initiatives — from trade union collections to jumble sales, socials and street stalls.

Got a creative fundraising idea? Don’t keep it to yourself! After my last column, a comrade from Liverpool offered to broadcast his acclaimed play on the great Paul Robeson — with all proceeds to the Appeal. A perfect example of socialist creativity in action. Watch this space for details.

How You Can Help

  • Buy and sell raffle tickets! Order books of five or 10 (sale or return) from raffle@peoples-press.com. Prizes include two nights at the workers’ stately home Wortley Hall, a luxury hamper, and three volumes of Marxist art theorist Hans Hess’s classic works.
  • Send a donation today. Add your name, town and a short message of solidarity — we’ll feature it in future updates.
  • Join your local Readers & Supporters Group (RSG). Listings are in today’s paper. Meet comrades, organise events, and fundraise for the only paper owned by its readers.
  • Share our posts. Every repost and retweet helps the Star reach new readers.
  • Invite a speaker. Bring the Morning Star into your union, campaigning or community meeting — and spread the word face to face.
