JEREMY CORBYN will be elected parliamentary leader for Your Party if his slate wins the central executive committee election next month, his allies say.
If the list of candidates headed by the former Labour Party leader, called The Many, clinch the nomination on February 26, Zarah Sultana’s “parliamentary convener” model would not see the light of day.
Ms Sultana heads a rival slate, the Grassroots Left. Many independent candidates for the executive are aligned with neither slate.
Four sitting MPs are currently part of the new socialist outfit, with Ayoub Khan and Shockat Adam on The Many slate.
Despite the party choosing a collective leadership model at its founding conference in November, the question of who would become the party’s leader in Parliament has remained.
Ms Sultana has previously said she would run to be parliamentary spokesperson, described on the Grassroots left website as a “parliamentary convener.”
