BEN JAMAL has announced that he will step down from his role as director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign after 10 years.
Mr Jamal said in a social media post today that he would “no longer be able to give the full time” needed for the role citing family care duties.
“Six years ago my partner of 40 years was diagnosed with early onset dementia,” he wrote, explaining that her condition has since deteriorated.
“That job is too important to be done by someone who cannot devote the time required to fulfil its responsibilities in full.
“With sadness I have made the decision to resign.”
Mr Jamal added that a date for his appeal alongside Stop the War’s Chris Nineham for breaching protest conditions was set for December 14.
He added: “I will ensure that I am able to devote the time required to enable a successful appeal, and PSC will continue to fully support that process.”
