HEALTH campaigners slammed the Tories’ “Sesame Street” plan for the NHS today, saying it does nothing to deal with the service’s workforce crisis.

New Health Secretary Therese Coffey told the Commons that the scale of the challenge facing the health service “necessitates a national endeavour.”

She said the government expected waiting times to rise before they get better following the pandemic, but that patients will be able to get a GP appointment within two weeks – and that she was planning to help clinicians to return to the profession.
