Government ‘letting down rape victims on every front,’ Labour says

THE government is “letting down victims of rape on every front,” Labour’s shadow solicitor-general Ellie Reeves warned today.

MPs on both sides of the Commons urged ministers to do more to ensure that rape victims feel there is a reasonable prospect of their attacker being convicted if reported.

Ms Reeves and Labour MP Cat Smith said that the rate of rape prosecutions in England and Wales was the lowest on record.
