PRO-PALESTINE activists unveiled a “Stop Arming Israel” banner outside Angela Rayner’s constituency office today.

The lunchtime protest outside the Deputy Prime Minister’s Ashton-Under-Lyne office in Greater Manchester was part of the Palestinian Youth Movement’s national day of action.

They called on the Labour government to impose a full arms embargo on Israel, end RAF surveillance over Gaza and enforce aid via the UN.

The activists were met with opposition from locals, including a man who stood opposite shouting “Free the Israeli hostages” and “shame on you” through the entire protest.

Two others opposing the protest were seen giving nazi salutes.

However, there were many supporters, including local business owners who came out and handed umbrellas to those in the protest amid the torrential rain.

Ms Rayner abstained on voting for a ceasefire on Gaza in November 2023 and did not sign MP Zarah Sultana’s letter in March last year calling for arms sales to Israel to be suspended.

She also did not sign MP Richard Burgon’s letter in May last year to uphold the ICC’s arrest warrants against Israeli war criminals.
